This legislation has common sense democracy reforms that would make voting safe, secure and accessible for all eligible Americans. It would also require states to replace unsecure paperless voting systems, perform robust audits and impose new safety measures for private election system vendors.

 

The ability to cast a safe and secure ballot is a cornerstone of our democracy. As a voter — concerned about climate change, air pollution and their impact on our communities — I see a direct connection between the ability of every eligible person to securely cast their vote and the urgency with which our elected officials act to swiftly address the climate crisis.

 

S.1 seeks to address this by modernizing our democracy, providing additional resources that safeguard our right to vote. I strongly urge you to support this legislation — it’s not just good for the environment, it’s also critically important for our democracy.
