Leg 2 - Perkiomen Trail

Updated: May 19, 2021

On a fine day for cycling, May 16, a somewhat different group of Philadelphia riders enjoyed an out-and-back 30 mile ride on the

Perkiomen Trail. (The first photo shows a stop at the high point on Spring Mount).

This rail-trail offers a lot of natural beauty in between passing through the towns of Collegeville and Schwenksville. Indeed apparently this experience of the Perkiomen Valley enjoyed today by so many bikers, walkers, and runners, replicates some of the experience of Reading Railroad riders on Sunday excursion trains from the city many years ago. Thus, just had to include a photo or two from former train trestles now decked with wood.

Here comes the group, looking strong and healthy at the turnaround point near Kratz Station Road!

The trail alternates between paved and gravel surfaces. And now for one of those trestles - another high point, this time metaphorical.
